On Tuesday, December 22, 2020, Constellation Schools: Stockyard Community Elementary and Middle partnered with Miss Tallawanda, BreeOnna Springer, to host a food donation called “Give Back a Meal.”
Miss Springer approached Constellation Schools: Stockyard wanting to work on a service project with a school in the community in which she currently lives. BreeOnna is competing for Miss Ohio in June.
Principal Gary Vojtush said, “We were thrilled to team up with BreeOnna on this project. It is so humbling to work together for the betterment of others and give back to our families during the holiday season. Our families continually support us and it was a privilege to be able to support them with this special holiday meal. Our families were appreciative and we were able to spread some positivity, something very much needed during these challenging times.”
Miss Springer arranged a donation of boxes with fresh fruits and vegetables from 4MyCity. The school donated the milk, hams, and turkeys for the families. Over 100 families pre-registered to receive a donated meal. Through contactless distribution, the food was placed in each family’s vehicle. More than 20 volunteers from the school helped distribute the food to the families. Social distancing guidelines were followed and masks were worn by all volunteers. Even Santa Claus showed up with a mask to volunteer and bring some holiday cheer.
